ENF Beacon Grant - The Outreach Program

News Release

Feeding the hungry in the Brainerd Lakes Area

Beacon Grant News; we will highlight the Outreach program of Nisswa. We presented a check for $2000 to the Outreach Program to be used for their food kits that feeds people in the Brainerd Area with food insecurities.

Brainerd Elks ER, Bill Satre holds an example food kit and Outreach Community
Coordinator, Tina Foster holds the ENF Grant money from the Brainerd Elks Lodge.

I got a tour of the facility and presented a check to Tina Foster, the Community Coordinator. The money will be used to purchase the raw material food to be packaged in kits and distributed by the volunteers and organizations like our Elks.

They pack a variety of food kits here, with nutrition in mind, that they make available to food shelves and agencies to give to those in need. These kits find there way to families with children and those who are struggling with hunger. In all there are six meals, two breakfasts and two desserts that are distributed. The kits are easy to make with the addition of clean water and are very nutritious.

As part of the requirements of our ENF Grant we will be planning a volunteer food packing session with them at a later date this year. Please check out the Outreach Program at their website.
